From Classrooms to Careers

BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

Graduation is not the end — it’s the beginning.

We walk alongside our students into higher education, employment, and purpose-driven futures.

For many students, the journey doesn’t end with a school certificate. It gets harder.

Graduates from vulnerable backgrounds often face impossible choices — between earning a living or pursuing further education, between survival and ambition.

At School for Life, we believe that the investment shouldn’t stop when a student finishes school. That’s why we’ve built the Post-School Pathways program — to ensure that every graduate has a real chance to thrive, not just survive.

Introducing Our Post-School Pathways Program

Launched in 2024, our program supports graduates through the critical transition between school and adulthood. We call them Prosperity Makers — and this is how we help them build a future:

Changemakers Academy

A 9-month bridging program where students develop life and leadership skills before entering university or the workforce. They receive training in literacy and numeracy teaching, then work in surrounding schools to uplift education in their district.

Wraparound Support

A dedicated Post-School Pathways Department provides:

  • Career assessments

  • Mentorship & career counselling

  • Life skills (e.g. CV writing, applications)

  • Psychosocial support

  • Transition coaching

Tracking & Alumni Network

We are building a connected alumni community — not only to track progress and outcomes, but to foster a growing movement of skilled Ugandans giving back to their families, communities, and country.

Scholarships

Full and partial scholarships cover university or vocational college tuition, boarding, technology, transport, and learning materials — removing financial barriers to higher education.

Employer & Education Partnerships

We build strategic partnerships with accredited universities, technical colleges, and local employers to ensure our graduates are equipped with relevant, in-demand skills — and real opportunities to apply them. Every pathway is carefully vetted to ensure it offers meaningful, long-term potential, not just a quick fix — so students can step into the future with confidence, purpose, and impact..

GRADUATE SPOTLIGHT

Emmanuel Waaswa Tamale – Automotive Mechanic in Training

Emmanuel is one of many students supported by School for Life's post-secondary scholarship program. He joined the Automotive Mechanics course at Smart Girls with Tools in March 2024, and is on track to graduate in 2026 with a National Certificate in Automotive Mechanics.

Over two years, Emmanuel has gained hands-on skills in servicing engines, wiring, and assembling vehicles — all while being fully supported with tuition, materials, food, and healthcare. His dream is to eventually open his own car repair business and create a better future for his family and community.

"I am looking forward to starting small, earning and growing my skills through employment as I accumulate capital so that I become independent in the future. I hope to become an owner of a car garage."

"Thank you for supporting me throughout my education journey. I look forward to making you proud and becoming the best version of myself, family and to my community in Katuuso."
